VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and TCE (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) provide free tax assistance to people with low to moderate incomes (VITA) and the elderly (TCE).

- For taxpayers with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of less than $79,000 in 2023, the IRS offers free online filing and preparation software for federal and state from their partners. Learn which options are available with their free online lookup tool.
- Taxpayers who earned more than $79,000 in 2023 may file their federal taxes for free online using their Free File Fillable Forms.
- The nearest Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TAC) is at 880 Front St. Ste. 1247, SD 92101 and will be open for the March and April dates.
- Open during the week by appointment; Saturdays by walk-in.
- MilTax e-filing software is free for service members, eligible family members and survivors.
