Named for explorer and mountain man James P. Beckwourth, the Mountain View/Beckwourth Branch Library was dedicated in 1976 to serve the residents of Southeast San Diego. The library was built on land provided by the San Diego Community College District as part of the Educational Cultural Complex, a joint community effort to bring adult education to the area. Featuring an outdoor reading area and meeting room, the library provides a quiet study area and computer access for students from the many schools located nearby.
