Project Background

The Proposed Project involves the approval of a General Development Plan (GDP) Amendment to design and construct an approximately 1-acre dog off-leash area (DOLA) within Mission Heights Neighborhood Park. The proposed DOLA may include ADA improvements, a chain-link fence with entry vestibules, and designated areas for large and small dogs. Additional features could include pedestrian walkways, maintenance access for vehicles, and vegetative screening adjacent to the project site. Mission Heights Neighborhood Park is located at 5000 Acari Street in the Linda Vista Community, within Council District 7.

Scope of Work

This project proposes the development and approval of a General Development Plan (GDP) through a community engagement process to determine the scope of improvements, which may include:

• Installation of a fenced dog off-leash area (DOLA) with separate enclosures for large and small dogs
• A secure, double-gated entry vestibule
• Drinking Fountain with Dog Bowl
• Agility Opportunities for Dogs
• Seating for People
• An ADA-compliant pathway connecting the parking area to the proposed DOLA
• Maintenance access
• Surfacing improvements suitable for DOLA use
• Vegetative screening for the DOLA

The final scope of the project will be refined through the GDP process in collaboration with the community, the Council Office, the Parks & Recreation Department, and other stakeholders to determine which park amenities, including potential additional features, will be included.
