Howard Lane Neighborhood Park Improvements
Project Background
This project provides for the design and construction of park improvements to Howard Lane Neighborhood Park, which is located at 1626 Dairy Mart Road within the San Ysidro Community, within Council District 8.
The project includes ADA and lighting improvement, a new comfort station, and a new playground. Additionally, this project provides for the addition of a marked crosswalk and additional pedestrian safety measures, including a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (HAWK) at the intersection of Dairy Mart Road and Plantel Way.
Scope of Work
This project includes the creation and approval of a General Development Plan (GDP) through community engagement that includes the following:
- Re-establish/create ADA compliant pathway circling the park as well as other paths of travel into the site.
- Replace the children’s playground.
- Add fitness equipment to the park.
- Re-surface/upgrade the basketball courts. Improvements to allow for multiple uses such as futsal, volleyball, pickleball, or other hard-court activities.
- Install security lighting along the pathways and other areas of the park as needed.
- Evaluate and update/upgrade irrigation system - Renovate field turf area.
The scope will be explored and finalized during the GDP process through community, Council Office, Parks & Recreation Department and other stakeholder engagement to determine exactly which of these park amenities, and potentially others, will be included.
