DiscoverU

With DiscoverU, the San Diego Public Library encourages youth (grades 3-12) and emerging adults (ages 18-25) to explore their interests and achieve their highest potential. Workshops cover STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts, college readiness, career preparation and life skills.

Working with partners and other community organizations, DiscoverU offers a mix of in-person and virtual programming, including college information sessions, engineering activities, camps for entrepreneurs-in-training, SAT and ACT test preparation and more.

Game Jam Jr. 2024

4:00 – 5:30 p.m. | Level: Elementary School (Grades 3 – 5)

Ever wonder what it takes to make a video game? Join us for Game Jam Jr. 2024 to learn the basics of video game development and design using the Scratch programming language, then build your own game from the ground up! This is an in-person program. Registration required.

Life Paths: Plan Your Future

4:00 – 5:30 p.m. | Level: High School (Grades 9 - 12) & Emerging Adults

Success comes in various forms and doesn't follow a one-size-fits-all formula. Explore the advantages and disadvantages of different routes to success, including college, trade school, military service, and unconventional career paths. Learn how to build a fulfilling career rather than just holding a job. Also, get an understanding of the significance of networking, mentorship, and making wise decisions along the way. Registration is encouraged. This is an in-person program.
