The ART of Inclusive Communication

Bridge the Gap: The ART of Inclusive Communication

San Diego is home to diverse neighborhoods, cultures, beliefs and walks of life. This workshop helps participants learn how one's personal and cultural identity affects their communication style. Learn how to recognize when a communication breakdown is happening and how best to manage it—our different styles of communicating can be the root of the issue.

ARTful Conversation

Bridge the Gap: The Artful Conversation

Hearing others out and saying what we want to say without offending can be challenging! Opting out and avoiding the conflict is an approach that does neither helps us resolve our differences nor meets our needs in these situations. Learn communication skills that will build a better relationship with your peers, community and family.

Bystander Challenge: Microaggressions & Hurtful Speech

All of us have been in situations where we have heard hateful comments or witnessed mean behavior. If you are a bystander who sees harmful speech directed at an individual or a group, you can find ways to make a positive difference. Learn how to create more inclusive environments that embrace diversity and foster a sense of belonging in this interactive workshop.

Bridge the Gap is a programming series brought to you by San Diego Public Library, Library Foundation San Diego, County of San Diego Health and Human Services via Live Well San Diego and NCRC, an organization that works to provide both services and training to transform conflict into resolution. By finding a common ground between different perspectives, outlooks and goals, people are empowered to overcome differences.
