Baku Patel joined the Office of the Independent Budget Analyst (IBA) in February 2018 as a Fiscal & Policy Analyst. Before joining the IBA, Baku served the City of San Diego for nearly 10 years in the Debt Management Department beginning his career as an Associate Economist before promoting to Debt Coordinator two years later. In that role, he coordinated the financing activities for several high priority projects and managed the City’s post-bond issuance compliance program.

Baku grew up in the City of San Diego and attended the University of California, San Diego where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science.
