Workers’ Compensation Unit works closely with the Risk Management Department to provide legal advice on a wide range of issues, from interpretation of legislative changes, to operational decisions regarding benefits and medical care.  

In addition to its advisory role, the unit handles all aspects of litigation at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, including trials, hearings, liens, death benefits, motions, and appeals. The Unit also recovers workers’ compensation expenditures from third parties in subrogation litigation.
