AC Water & Sewer Group 1042 (SS) - Convoy Resurfacing
Project Description
This project provides for overlaying approximately 3.4 paving miles of existing roadway on Convoy Street, from State Route 52 to the intersection with Kearny Mesa Road and Ostrow Street, with asphalt concrete pavement and making roadway subgrade repairs where needed. The project also includes the removal and replacement of damaged curbs and gutters, cross gutters and sidewalks, as well as the restriping of the roads to provide for separated bike lanes that will improve mobility and safety for all modes of transportation. This project is part of Mayor Todd Gloria's 'Sexy Streets' initiative.
Anticipated Schedule
- Construction start: Summer 2023.*
- Construction end: Spring 2024.*
- Work will take place in three specific phases:
- Beginning summer 2023: Subgrade repairs and concrete improvements (bus pads, driveways, etc.).
- Beginning summer 2023 through winter 2023: Paving improvements (asphalt removal, paving, etc.).
- This phase will impact on-street parking.
- Beginning winter 2023 through spring 2024: Striping and signage.
- Work will take place in three specific phases:
Project Budget
The project's budget is $7.6 million.*
Community Outreach
During the project's design phase, City staff presented the design and anticipated construction impacts to the Convoy District Partnership. In addition, residents and businesses will be mailed a construction notice approximately one month before construction begins and the City's contractor will deliver an informational door hanger approximately five days before construction begins.
