Rebates
Several rebates are available to San Diegans to help make water-saving options more affordable.
- Rain Barrels can capture rainwater from hard surfaces such as rooftops, helping to prevent pollution in our storm drain system and conserve water for irrigation.
- Rain Gutters capture rainwater from rooftops and divert it to rain barrels or pervious landscape, which naturally filters runoff, helping to decrease the amount of pollutants in our bays, ocean and waterways.
- Downspout Redirects are devices that redirect rainwater from our storm drains to a pervious landscaped area that naturally filters runoff, helping to decrease the amount of pollutants in our bays, ocean and waterways.
- The Landscape Transformation Program can help property owners replace turf landscaping. Lawns require an estimated 44 gallons of water per square foot per year! And if you're replacing your turf, you can also receive a $100 rebate per tree for up to five trees while you replace your grass!
- The Commercial Turf Replacement program helps businesses remove their existing grass and replace it with organic, drought landscaping. Metropolitan Water District is offering a rebate of $2.00 per square foot up to 50,000 square feet of conversion per meter year.
- Weather-Based Irrigation Controller Systems allow you to use smart technology to optimize water usage for irrigation. This rebate is available through a program administered by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
