The City of San Diego adopted the 2021 International Fire Code (IFC) as amended by the State of California and published as the 2022 California Fire Code (CFC) on July 1, 2022. The regulations contained within the 2022 CFC took effect 180 days after publication on Jan. 1, 2023. Local Amendments to the 2022 edition of the California Fire Code are published in Chapter 5, Article 11, Division 1 - 83 of the Municipal Code.
