Comic-Con at the Library
Graphic novels help foster a love of reading and can also be an important part of building and improving literacy skills. The San Diego Public Library uses Comic-Con's unique place in San Diego's cultural landscape to explore the connection between graphic novels, literacy and education.

In the spirit of San Diego Comic Con, be inspired by the works of graphic novelists who create works of literature based on the happenings in their daily lives. Take your first steps towards interpreting your own life into graphic memoir by taking an art journaling kit home and trying your hand at interpreting daily creative drawing prompts. Kits include prompts, a journal, stickers, pen, and glue to put it all together. Make something that is uniquely your own, reflecting a life story that is uniquely your own in the form of graphic storytelling like well-known authors such as Will Eisner, Lucy Knisley, and Alison Bechdel.
Kits are limited and available on a first-come basis.
Adapted for adults with ASD but teens/adults of all abilities welcome.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about and register for this year's summer reading program.
