Programs
The Transportation Department provides a number of programs designed to improve the functionality of local roadways and the public right-of-way.
Some of these programs include:
The City's Complete Communities initiative is to provide equitable, healthy, and sustainable neighborhoods in our City.
The Pavement Management Plan is designed to identify current street conditions, and maintenance and repair strategies, then determine the feasibility of implementing the improvements.
The City is offering a permit fee holiday and expedited permit process for sidewalk repairs, which will last through June 30, 2026. Residents with sidewalk damage adjacent to their property is their responsibility to address.
The Street Division is responsible for all 40,000+ streetlights in operation throughout the City of San Diego.
The City's Utilities Undergrounding Program (UUP) works to move overhead utilities to underground.
The City's Urban Forestry program is working to increase the City's urban tree canopy, maximize the efficiencies in maintaining the benefits of trees, and minimize the risk of trees in an urban environment.
The City's Vision Zero program is working to make our streets safe for all users and modes of travel.
