Ralph M. Brown Act
- The Ralph M. Brown Act is written law established by congress in 1953. The enactment of this Policy grants the public permission to engage civically by attending & participating in meetings held by local legislative bodies of a citizen’s residing city.
- This act declares that public commissions, boards, councils & other other public agencies exist to aid and support the public. According to the Brown Act, the actions & expressions of civically engaged individuals must be received & considered without judgement.
Robert’s Rules of Parliament
- Robert’s Rules of Order are a set of legislative policies written under the Ralph M. Brown Act of 1953.
- This body of rules was passed by the California State Assembly before being passed by the State Senate and signed by then-Governor Earl Warren.
