I’m a Fire Captain with 21 years service. I came on as a Paramedic. I’m a single mom of two teenagers. My other two kids are Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

My first year on the job I ran an MCI with a bunch of hurt kids. I wasn’t the same for the next year. At the time, I had no idea why I couldn’t stop seeing flashes of the call whenever I closed my eyes. I had no idea what was going on and was too afraid to say anything. I was a new FF and on top of that a woman. I sucked it up until it went away. I’d be a lot more healthy today if I had known how to properly metabolize those traumatic events. My desire is to help others navigate a long and healthy career.
