The Morena Pump Station will be located adjacent to the wastewater pipeline that currently conveys flows to the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Morena Pump Station will divert 32 million gallons per day (mgd) of wastewater to the North City facilities for purification.

The pump station will be constructed at the southwest corner of Sherman Street and Custer Street off Morena Boulevard, just north of Interstate 8 and east of Interstate 5. Offsite utility relocation work and utility construction work will be ongoing in the streets around the new pump station. This project also includes work on Friars Road between Napa Street and Sea World Drive.

Traffic Configuration

Work on Friars Road to construct the underground infrastructure that will support the future pump station is complete. Eastbound Friars Road between Sea World Drive and Napa Street has been reopened to vehicle and bicycle traffic, allowing for two-way traffic to resume in the area.
