You Are Not Alone (YANA) Check
Do you have a friend or family member that is elderly or requires additional help and needs to be checked on regularly, or would you like to be visited to ensure you're doing well? You can sign up for the San Diego Police Department's "You Are Not Alone" (YANA) Program. Learn more about the YANA program below and how to apply.
Who Can Apply?
YANA checks are usually for the elderly but can also be for persons of any age that need their welfare regularly checked or for a short-term while recuperating from an illness or injury.
Who Will Check On Me?
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is trained by and supplements the San Diego Police Department in performing community service functions. Two uniformed RSVPs will personally contact you weekly at a date and time designated by you. They will briefly visit and assess your welfare, and offer any referral assistance if necessary.
How Do I Apply?
You, a family member, or a caregiver can complete and submit the online form. It is important that you name a local emergency contact, preferably someone with an extra key to their home in case of necessity.
