On March 22, 1995, officers responded to a report of a death at 2137 Ocean View Boulevard in the Logan Heights area of San Diego. When they arrived at the location, they were directed to a vacant residence behind the address where they found the body of the victim lying on the floor of the bathroom inside the residence. The victim had been strangled.
The resident of the Ocean View address discovered the victim. The resident's home had been burglarized and he was inspecting the area around his residence when he discovered the victim's body. The victim was a thirty-five year old black female. Subsequent investigation revealed the victim may have been involved in prostitution activities.
Prior to her death, the victim was residing at the Casa de Franklin, a facility for homeless people. A couple of days prior to this incident, a transient had contacted the resident of the house asking for food. When the transient was told to leave and not come back, he became angry and threatened the resident stating that something was going to happen to him or his property. The transient was never identified.
