Projected Completion: Ongoing

Environmental reviews are a key part of the process for all City actions that require discretionary decisions. These reviews are required under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). In addition to performing environmental reviews for Planning Department initiatives, the Environmental Policy section of the Planning Department prepares environmental documents for a variety of actions initiated by other City Departments, amounting to more than 1,000 environmental reviews performed annually. Examples of Environmental Impact Reports actively in process in 2022 include: Removal of the Midway-Pacific Highway Community Planning Area from the Coastal Height Limit, Utilities Undergrounding Program, Brown Field Airport Master Plan, Montgomery-Gibbs Airport Master Plan, Stormwater Alternative Compliance Program and the Single-Use Plastic Reduction Ordinance.
