A great park system makes a great city.

The City of San Diego's Parks and Recreation Department strives to create a practical and inspirational framework of facilities to meet our changing recreational needs and interests. Transforming the City's parks and recreation resources into a sustainable, flexible and innovative system requires continued financial investment, dedicated employees and a commitment to San Diegans to provide facilities that reflect the vision of a world-class city.

A General Development Plan (GDP) is a conceptual master plan for a park's design. The GDP is used in

presentations to Parks and Recreation Department advisory bodies, as a basis for public project assessment

and environmental documentation, as well as the exhibit on which construction plans will be based.
