Marisol Rendón received her MFA from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California, in 2003. During the last 14 years, she and her husband Ingram Ober have collaborated on projects in public art, museum exhibitions, social/civic events and have participated in art and aesthetics discussions. They have completed two projects for UMA in South Walton, FL; two public art projects for the City of San Diego at the Bayside Fire Station and Southcrest Trails Park; a project at Mira Costa College, San Elijo campus; and are working together on a project for Park Social. Besides her creative practice, she works for the Chula Vista Community College District as a tenured professor and coordinator of the Mixed Media Three-Dimensional Design and Art program at Southwestern College. As an individual artist, she has exhibited in France, Switzerland, Colombia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In California, she has shown with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, and the Oceanside Museum of Art. She has exhibited and worked closely with the New Children’s Museum, San Diego, in different programs and public outreach development. Marisol has been part of a research group, and professor for the master’s program in Aesthetics and Environment offered by Cauca University, Colombia, and has served as a member of the Port of San Diego Public Art Advisory Committee. Currently, she is a member of the Board of Directors at the New Children’s Museum in San Diego.
