Art Builds is a collective that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration in large format participatory art installations. The collective was founded in 2019 by a group of academics at the University of San Diego. They are a large collective that has involved hundreds of people from multiple countries in their projects over the past few years. Their core team is based in San Diego and together have decades of experience in large-scale sculpture, design, engineering, lighting, electronics, structural analysis, and more. Their members include Gordon Hoople, Diane Hoffoss, Max Elliott, Austin Choi Fitzpatrick, Rachel Nishimura, Nate Parde, Ginny Gutman, and Max Mellette. The collective has been exhibited multiple times at Burning Man, Everywhen, San Diego Maker Faire, and many public parks.
