Armando de la Torre has worked in the San Diego area for over 15 years. He was born in Tijuana, Baja California and raised in Chula Vista, CA. He is an army veteran and served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC, with assignments in Germany and Korea. He attended the School of Visual Arts in New York, Santa Monica College of Design, Art and Architecture, and Otis College of Art and Design. De la Torre finds inspiration for his art throughout San Diego. He is interested in environmental justice, indigenous rights, local and California history, and cinema. He is a teaching artist with The San Diego Guild of Puppetry.
