Features of the Skate Park

The Park de la Cruz Skate Park opened in 2018. The park is a 19,300-square-foot facility. It features a flow bowl with a spine ramp, a street plaza with flow features, banks and transition ramps, a street plaza a-frame with gap and rail features, a signature mid-city ramp feature, beginner gap, rail, stair and ledge features, and backyard style pool; it also includes urban elements such as railings, stairs, banks and ledges. The park has sports lighting, additional skate park lighting and ADA companion bench seating/observation areas.

 

History of the Skate Park

The project design started in January 2007 with input from City Heights-Mid City community members, including several skateboard professionals. Construction started in the summer of 2016, and the grand opening was on Jan. 17, 2018.

 

Directions and Bus Route

From Interstate 15 south, take exit 5A for University Avenue. Keep right at the fork and follow signs for University Avenue west. Continue on 40th Street to your destination. The destination will be on the left.
From Interstate 5 north, take exit 5A for University Avenue toward City Heights Transit Plaza. Keep left at the fork and follow signs for University Ave west. Continue on 40th Street to your destination. The destination will be on the left.

The skate park is accessible by bus via SDMTS.
