What's Coming

On Friday, Oct. 25, we will wrap up our Movie Series with Transylvania II. The movie will start at dusk, and pre-movie activities will start around 4:30 p.m. We will have a jumper for the kids and free giveaways for the Halloween season. So bring your beach chairs and picnic supplies down to the Ocean Beach Elementary School field at 4702 Newport Ave. behind the school and next to the recreation center. It will be fun for the whole family and a chance to try out the kids Halloween costumes a week early.

The Ocean Beach Recreation Center offers Youth/Adult Self Defense classes, Kids Cooking and Baking Classes, Pee Wee Sports, Kids Art and Craft Classes, Youth Basketball Leagues, Youth Volleyball Leagues, as well as Adult Pottery/Sculpture Classes, Adult Coed Dodgeball Leagues, Adult Coed Kickball Leagues, Women’s Softball Leagues and Men’s 16-inch Softball Leagues.


History of the Center

With dedication and a grand opening in 1946, the center is one of the oldest in the City.

Map this location

From Interstate 8 west, take the Sunset Cliffs Boulevard exit and turn left. Continue on Sunset Cliffs to Santa Monica Avenue and turn left. The recreation center is on the left, across from Ocean Beach Elementary School.

The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 35 and 923.
