Upcoming Construction Work and Temporary Closure of the Col. Irving Salomon San Ysidro Community Activity Center
The Col. Irving Salomon San Ysidro Community Activity Center, located at 179 Diza Road in San Ysidro, will be temporarily closed while constructing an upcoming Capital Improvements Program (CIP) project.
Program information: For more information about the relocated programs and activities, please call the Parks and Recreation staff at 619-534-3377.
CIP Project Improvements: New accessible playground, multi-purpose sports court, new accessible walkways, site furnishings, drinking fountains, parking lot resurfacing, new landscaping and irrigation system improvements.
Project Funding: The total project cost of the CIP improvements is $5.8 million.

History of the Center
The Recreation Center reopened in the spring of 2004 after being closed for over a year after a fire destroyed part of it.
Directions and Bus Route
From Interstate 805 south, take State Route 905 west and the Picador Boulevard/Smythe Avenue exit. Turn left on Smythe and proceed to Avenida de la Madrid. Turn left on Avenida de la Madrid. Then turn left on Blando Lane. Proceed two blocks to Diza Road and turn left.
From Interstate 5 south, take State Route 905 east and the Picador Boulevard/Smythe Avenue exit. Turn right on Smythe and proceed to Avenida de la Madrid. Turn left on Avenida de la Madrid. Then turn left on Blando Lane. Proceed two blocks to Diza Road and turn left.
The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Route 932 and the San Diego Trolley's Blue Line.

The center is closed on City Holidays.
Facilities
The recreation center offers a gymnasium complete with six baskets, one volleyball court and two badminton courts, along with meeting rooms and a weight room. All meeting rooms are available for rent. Call the center for details. The recreation center staff is seeking donations for teen activities, community events and youth activities.
