History of the Center

The center is part of the "City Heights Revitalization Plan" and replaced the Highland Park facility that was there for many years. The recreation center, which opened in 1998, is the recreation component of the City Heights Urban Village, which includes a library, a performance annex, a Head Start Program, a community college, a gymnasium and a police station.


Directions and Bus Route

Map this location

From Interstate 8, take the Mission Gorge Road/Fairmont Avenue exit and travel south to Fairmont. Turn left on University Avenue, right on Fairmont, then left on Landis Street. The center is on the left.

From Interstate 805 or Interstate 15, take the University Avenue exit and go east. Turn right on Fairmont Avenue and left on Landis Street.

The recreation center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 7, 10 and 13.
