Mayor Gloria Sworn In for Second Term, Affordable Housing Advances, and Water Savings Secured

In this week’s "From the Mayor’s Desk" newsletter, Mayor Todd Gloria begins his second term with a commitment to continue addressing homelessness, accelerating housing production, and improving infrastructure while keeping San Diego one of the safest big cities in America. Progress continues with the Bridge to Home program, which will deliver 592 new affordable homes in neighborhoods like City Heights, Southcrest, and Grantville. Regional water savings also take center stage, with an agreement that conserves water in Lake Mead and saves San Diegans $20 million. Additional updates include the upcoming increase in San Diego’s minimum wage to $17.25 an hour and a newly completed roundabout in Otay Mesa that enhances safety and traffic flow.

This week’s "From the Mayor's Desk" newsletter highlights the return of December Nights, including the grand reopening of the Botanical Building in Balboa Park, and the opening of Olive Street Park and San Diego’s first-ever AIDS Memorial in Bankers Hill. The Mayor also launched the fourth annual “Mayor for a Day” contest for San Diego students, the City unveiled new interactive kiosks downtown, and a roundtable discussion with Speaker Robert Rivas focused on implementing new state laws to strengthen public safety.
