Project Background

The Kelly Street Park project is currently in the process of developing a General Development Plan (GDP) amendment to redesign and renovate the park located in Linda Vista. This process includes presentations at two upcoming community meetings held by the Linda Vista Community Recreation Group (LVCRG). The first meeting will present multiple design options, also known as GDP design alternatives, for renovating the park and allow community members to provide feedback. These designs will then be refined based on the feedback and a preferred GDP design will be prepared and presented at a second LVCRG meeting where community members can provide additional feedback. That feedback will be used to prepare the proposed GDP amendment which will be presented to the Parks and Recreation board for their review and approval.

Scope of Work

This project includes the development of a GDP amendment to redesign and renovate Kelly Street Neighborhood Park. Proposed design options could include upgraded children’s play areas, picnic facilities, a comfort station, a multi-use turf area, sports courts, security lighting, walking paths, enhanced landscaping, public art and accessibility improvements. The improvements included in the GDP amendment will be based on public input received and feedback from the LVCRG as well as the Parks and Recreation board.

Project Schedule

• Preliminary engineering: August 2021 - November 2021.

• Consultant scoping and contracting: November 2021 - May 2022.

• GDP design development and approvals: May 2022 - December 2023.

  • GDP design alternatives presentation: LVCRG meeting, Nov. 8, 2022.

  • Preferred design alternative presentation: LVCRG meeting, March 14, 2023.

  • Environmental review process for GDP amendment: Approximately 6-12 months after approval of GDP amendment.

  • Parks and Recreation board GDP amendment presentation: To be determined.
