San Diego and team members are committed to the continued protection of civil liberties, rights & privacies of individuals.
San Diego will work with team members to comply with local, state, and federal regulations and make a reasonable effort to avoid using or sharing sensitive data (data containing PII). San Diego will provide public notice of the general time and area of testing. San Diego will not intentionally collect sensitive information where the subject has a reasonable expectation of privacy unless authorized by law. Data obtained may not be used for the following without consent: employment eligibility, promotion, or retention; credit eligibility; or health care treatment eligibility unless expressly permitted by & subject to the requirements of a regulatory framework. Information collected is for official use only & access must be restricted to only City-authorized persons, or in compliance with specific legal requirements. San Diego will make reasonable efforts to mitigate data security risks. When not in use, UAS will be stored securely to avoid theft of data. San Diego may not knowingly retain sensitive information captured beyond program duration unless otherwise required by law. Upon discovery of breach of the protection of sensitive data, the person discovering such breach must notify City of San Diego Office of Homeland Security. San Diego will provide a publically available system to receive privacy or security concerns, comments & requests for deidentification of sensitive data captured through IPP. This policy must be reviewed annually for compliance with existing law, regulations and policies.
