Notes

First and foremost I am married (32 years) to Jennifer. We have three children Troy 48 (SDPD) former SD Lifeguard, Kimberly 46 (SDPD clerical) and Cory 37 (SDFR).   I am a graduate of Crawford High School 1965. I attended Foothill College in San Francisco and Mesa College, I have three AS degrees in Radiological Technology, Fire Science and Physical Education.

I began my career with the San Diego Lifeguard Service in 1965, I worked eight years serving at Windensea Beach and Mission Bay Harbor Patrol.

In 1973 I was hired by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department where I worked in heavy rescue.  I spent from 1978 to 1982 working as a Fire Investigator (part of the inception of M.A.S.T, Metro Arson Strike Team).  As an fire department engineer, at a wildland station I also taught off road driving skills to certify new engineers. I retired from SDFD in 2005 as an engineer out of Fire Station 37.

In 2005 I began responding as a chaplain with Firefighters For Christ (Emergency Relief Team) to help provide assistance from natural disasters (Hurricanes Katrina, Sandy, Earthquake Haiti Southern California Fires, ETC). Participation with Firefighters For Christ has also led to training trips around the world (Uganda, Panama, Philippines, Nepal, Mexico, Ecuador, Etc.) where we teach CPR, Utility Webbing usage, Low Angle Rope Rescue, Wildland Firefighting Skills, Vehicle Extraction and Swiftwater Rescue (my specialty).

I was also involved with an organization called Friends and Family Community Connection where we put together meals for the needy (generally 300K-500K at a time).  I have taken numerous Critical Incident Stress Management and Chaplaincy courses and am a commissioned minister/chaplain with the Rock Church of San Diego.
