Trosper

Notes

Chaplain Trosper is a retired Fire Captain with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. He retired in 2015 after 27 years with the department. During his 27 years at SDFD, he predominately worked in fire suppression. As well as working on an engine and truck company during this time Chaplain Trosper became involved in the single resource program working with the National Wildland Coordinating Group (NWCG) in different capacities and the County Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR) as a Search Team Manager where he deployed to a few incidents including 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. It was in preparation for the deployment to 9/11 that he was first introduced to the concept of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and the need for (CISD) of which slowly began to be implemented into the operations personnel within the department. As such, we want firefighters and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) workers to know that there is help available regardless of what challenges they are facing. Following retirement Chaplain Trosper was looking for opportunities to do volunteer work.

Consequently, he began to take classes such as Pastoral Crisis Intervention I, Assisting Individuals in Crisis and Grief Following Trauma. As a result, Chaplain Trosper submitted an application to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association (BGEA) as a Chaplain with their Disaster Response Team. Since having his application accepted he has responded to natural disasters such as Hurricane Matthew in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and Hurricane Harvey in Rockport Texas. As a Chaplain with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Chaplain Trosper is looking forward to building relationships with operations personnel and being available as a resource if needed.

Chaplain Trosper has been married for 30 years to his wife Helen and has a 23-year-old daughter who is attending Graduate School for Speech Pathology at San Diego State University.
