I started working for the City of San Diego as a seasonal lifeguard in 1987. I am currently a Lifeguard Sergeant assigned to the Boating Safety Unit. Also, I am a member of the Swift Water Rescue Team. I enjoy being a public servant and helping people on all levels.

I am willing to be a Peer Supporter because life has humbled me in many ways. I have been sober since February 18, 2004. I have experienced so many of life’s ups and downs. Two years ago, my girlfriend, Nicki Carano, passed away when a tree fell on her car in Pacific Beach. The amount of support I received from members of the SDFD has been truly incredible. There is no way I could have endued such a tragic loss without the unconditional love from my family, friends, and fellow coworkers. When I am in service to others, that is when I feel most connected to my Higher Power. I want to give back what was so freely given to me; love, kindness, and service.
