SAN DIEGO In honor of National Public Safety Dispatcher Week, Mayor Todd Gloria today visited dispatchers from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) to thank them for their service to the City and officially proclaim Public Safety Dispatcher Week in the City of San Diego.
This week and every week, I am grateful for the work our public safety dispatchers do to help San Diegans when they need it most, Mayor Todd Gloria said. Our dispatchers interact with and get help to San Diegans in the most trying of circumstances and they do so with professionalism, care and diligence. I ask San Diegans to join me in thanking all of our public safety dispatchers for their service to our city.
SDPD and San Diego Fire-Rescue emergency service dispatchers are the critical link between the community and first responders. They get important information from San Diego residents about threats to public safety, ensure first responders can address the crisis in a timely manner and determine whether additional support is needed.
The Mayor is also scheduled to visit San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFD) dispatchers on Thursday.
The City of San Diego is currently hiring dispatchers to serve both SDPD and SDFD. Anyone interested in becoming one of these highly trained City employees can visit governmentjobs.com/careers/sandiego to apply.
