SAN DIEGO – Mayor Todd Gloria, Chair of the California Big City Mayors coalition, issued the following statement on the passage and signing of the fiscal year 2024/2025 state budget:

“As Mayors who understand firsthand the hard choices that need to be made in tough budget climates, we commend Governor Newsom and the Legislature for their work in finalizing the 2024-2025 budget. We’re grateful that the funding priorities our coalition advocated for were included in the budget adopted today. This includes $1 billion in Homeless, Housing Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) program funds, $83 million to directly support the hiring of disadvantaged youth in city jobs, and the restoration of previously awarded funding through the REAP and Multi-Family Housing Programs. We look forward to putting these investments to work to tackle the biggest challenges in our communities.”
