United States Lifesaving Association
The United States Lifesaving Association is a national, nonprofit association of lifesaving professionals. Its mission is to establish and maintain high standards for open-water (beach) lifeguards, educate the public and promote actions intended to save human life in and around the aquatic environment.
California Surf Lifesaving Association
Chapters of the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) are organized into geographical regions. The Southwest Region of USLA is known as the California Surf Lifesaving Association (CSLSA). This organization conducts public safety education campaigns, encourages high standards for lifeguards and conducts lifeguard competitions. CSLSA can be contacted at:

San Diego Lifesaving Association
The United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) is composed of individual chapters. The local chapter of USLA is the San Diego Lifesaving Association (SDLA), which provides safety lectures and media to schools, military groups, civic groups, and those attending public events. Its members are San Diego lifeguards. These services are free and provided by volunteers on a limited basis. San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation
The San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation is dedicated to advancing water safety through the many programs it supports, including Water Proofing San Diego, Learn to Swim programs for inner-city youth and scholarships for disadvantaged families to participate in the Junior Lifeguard program each summer.
