Goals
Residents, community advocates, and SDPZ Partners, including government agencies, nonprofits, and community-based organizations, meet regularly in SDPZ Working Groups to identify priorities, coordinate programs, and plan activities to make a collective impact.
Leading these efforts, the City collaborates with these groups to focus on six Working Group goal areas that aim to improve the quality of life for Promise Zone residents by:
Expanding Affordable Housing
- Create and preserve affordable housing
- Support renters, first-time homebuyers, and people without housing
Promoting Health & Wellness
- Increase access to healthy foods
- Improve access to healthcare
- Support opportunities for active transportation and active living
Creating Jobs
- Cultivate opportunities for career exploration, applied learning, and youth leadership
- Create meaningful summer employment experiences for teenagers
Ensuring Safety
- Dialogue with residents
- Create environments conducive to learning and working
- Improve infrastructure
Improving Education
- Increase the number of students meeting school readiness and grade-level expectations
- Increase educational and career supports for Opportunity Youth
Increasing Economic Activity
- Increase and improve access to capital
