1933 photo of the Star of India in San Diego Bay along Harbor Drive. Launched in November 1863, she is the world's oldest active sailing ship. She houses exhibits for the Maritime Museum of San Diego, is kept fully seaworthy, and sails at least once a year. A tuna boat and Globe Mills are in the background. San Diego was once the tuna capital of the world. From the 1930s until the late 1970s, it was the city's third-largest industry. The historic Globe Mills building at Pacific Highway and Ash Street has been converted to offices and condos.
