Downtown Post Office and Carnegie Public Library at Eighth and E. The post office was constructed in 1936 with Treasury Department funds under the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and houses Archibald Garner's sculpture 'Transportation of the Mail' produced under the Treasury Section of Fine Arts. The library opened in 1902 and was demolished in 1952 to make way for a new Central Library. (Photo by Erickson)
