General Counsel

Under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Director, the General Counsel advises the Commission and its staff on legal matters related to Commission governance, including operations, processes, and procedures. The position also advises the Commission and its staff on the Ralph M. Brown Act, California Public Records Act, the Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act, Commission procedures, general parliamentary procedure, and conflicts-of-interest. Deputy Executive Director

Under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director coordinates direction and policy decisions in close collaboration with the Commission on Police Practices. The Deputy Executive Director is expected to be a seasoned executive who is comfortable making decisions and stepping in for the Executive Director when necessary and working with diverse communities in San Diego. The diverse communities may include but not limited to LGBTQ+, mental illness, drug usage, immigrant communities, unhoused, faith, youth, and communities of color. Performance Auditor

Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director of the Commission on Police Practices, the Performance Auditor (PA) performs challenging and innovative work to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of San Diego Police Department (SDPD) services and programs. The CPP PA review SDPD operations to identify areas of risk, uses specialized data analysis techniques and approaches to analyze SDPD performance, develops recommendations to improve SDPD operations, and communicates audit results and recommendations to the CPP, SDPD, decision makers, and the public.
