Watercolor print, 18 x 24 inches, of the USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE 15), Mr. Chavez and workers. The ship was christened on May 5, 2012, in San Diego, the first ship operated by the U.S. Navy named for the laborleader and civil rights activist. Mr. Chavez joined the Navy at the age of 17 in 1944 during World War II. This was mailed to Mayor Sanders by the artist. The signature and name could not be deciphered by the Mayor's office.
