This was presented to Mayor Sanders by Norio Tomonaga, Mayor of Sasebo City, Japan, on November 8, 2012. The Port of San Diego and the Port of Sasebo signed a sister port agreement in August 1982. The Port of San Diego hosted a distinguished delegation from Sasebo City on November 7 to commemorate and honor the 30th anniversary of the sister port relationship.
