Photos taken at the groundbreaking of the Prebys Cardiovascular Institute, scheduled to open in 2015. The institute is named after Conrad Prebys. When he was a young boy he had a life-threatening cardiac infection that forced him to remain bedridden for a year. The noted San Diego developer and philanthropist fought back against the disease by donating $45 million to help create the most advanced cardiac center on the West Coast. This was presented to the Mayor by Chris Van Gorder, President and CEO of Scripps Health.
