Wooden plaque, 5 x 7-1/2 inches, with the seal of City of Ujung Pandung, now known as the City of Makassar, the provincial capital of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, and the largest city on Sulawesi Island. From 1971 to 1999, the city was named Ujung Pandang, after a pre-colonial fort in the city, and the two names are often used interchangeably. This was donated by H. A. Malik B. Masry, Mayor of Ujung Pandang in 1997; occasion information was not provided to the City Clerk's office.
