Metal plaque, 5-1/2 x 7-1/2 inches with the insignia of Peking University, a major Chinese research university located in Beijing, and a member of the C9 League. It is the first established modern national university of China, founded as the 'Imperial University of Peking' in 1898 as a replacement for the ancient Guozijian, the imperial college during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. This was donated by Professor Ma Shufu, Vice President of Peking University in 1997. Occasion information was not provided to the City Clerk's office.
