Framed Japanese Wood Art painting of a mountain scene, 15 x 11-1/2 inches. Nishiki-e refers to Japanese multi-colored woodblock printing. It was invented in the 1760s. A nishiki-e print is created by carving a separate woodblock for every color, and using them in a stepwise fashion. This was donated by Chikashi Watanabe, President, Youth Guidance Conference of Yokohama City. Yokohama, Japan, has been a San Diego Sister City since 1957.
