Ceremonial sash, 5 x 65 inches, blue with multi-colored stripes, and embroidered with 'AKWAABA', a word meaning 'welcome'. It is a Twi word, a language of the Akan people of Ghana in West Africa. This was presented to Mayor Sanders on July 24, 2012, by Gov. Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Tema, Ghana, a San Diego Sister City.
