12 x 9-inch glass plaque, the 2012 Alonzo Award which honors people and programs that contributed to the renewal of downtown San Diego. Alonzo Horton, for whom the awards and Horton Plaza shopping center are named, purchased most of the land in downtown in the 1860s, envisioning it as a center of commerce. This was given to Mayor Sanders for working with CCDC to establish Civic San Diego to explore economic development throughout the city. Presented by the San Diego Downtown Partnership at the 50th Annual Alonzo Awards.
