12-inch high glass plaque presented to Mayor Jerry Sanders by the Downtown San Diego Partnership. Alonzo Horton, for whom the annual award is named, purchased most of the land in downtown San Diego in the 1860s, envisioning it as a center of commerce. The annual award honors people and programs that significantly contributed to revitalization of downtown San Diego. This was presented on Nov. 16, 2011, before a sold-out dinner crowd of more than 500 people at the Omni San Diego Hotel.
