The People's Business - Feb. 17, 2021
Tuesday was a legislative recess with no City Council meeting following the Presidents’ Day weekend. Two committee meetings could help satisfy your need for council discussion.
Rules Committee – Feb. 17, 2021 at 2 p.m.
The Rules Committee chaired by Council President Jennifer Campbell, will address two items on the agenda.
Item 1 – Corporate Partnership Agreement with Deloitte Consulting LLP to be the Official Get It Done Marketing Partner – It was once just a method for residents to report potholes to one City Department, but Get It Done is now being used by nine different departments. Corporate Partnerships and Development is proposing to enter into a Corporate Partnership Agreement with Deloitte Consulting to the City’s “Official Get It Done Marketing Partner” during this three-year contract term.
Item 2 – Presentation from the Funds Commission – The Funds Commission has supervision and control over all trust, perpetuity and investment funds of the City which are placed in its custody. These include the Edwin A. Benjamin Memorial fund, the Cemetery Perpetuity Fund and the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve Fund. The commission will provide an update to the committee.
Land Use and Housing Committee Meeting – Feb. 18, 2021 – 1 p.m.
Chair Steven Whitburn will address three items on the LU & H committee meeting.
Item 2 – Removal of City Deed Use Restrictions and Reversionary Rights from the UC San Diego La Jolla Campus Site - In the 1960’s, the City of San Diego conveyed 500 acres of vacant land to the UC Regents to create the main UC San Diego Campus for the purpose of education. The University has negotiated agreements to remove restrictions from the land deed in exchange for UC San Diego’s commitment to provide benefits in the City’s favor.
The Committee will also discuss its 2021 Work Plan as an informational item and the Third Amendment to an office space lease on 9370 Chesapeake Drive on the consent agenda.
